Our Vascular Surgeons deal with operative and medication treatments of vein diseases. These are for example arterial stricture, dilation, occlusion and treating different varicose problems: vein dilation, certain forms of vein thrombosis and vein inflammation.
Varicose Vein Disease impacts a huge percentage of the adult Hungarian population – 20% of men and 25% of women suffer from some sort of varicose vein disease. Capillary vasodilatation is present among an even higher percentage - 50% of the Hungarian population. Even so 25% of the diagnosed people have to resort to a treatment against the varicose vein problems. It is imperative that the correct treatment is chosen to treat a specific varicose vein disease, otherwise it will return at a later stage. The reason for this is inaccuracy of the diagnoses and/or the incorrect treatment option or applying techniques.
The aim of the diagnosis is to find the weak points of the patient’s varicose veins system and based on the results of the diagnosis, a treatment plan can be determined. The most appropriate instrumental method is the examination of the superficial and deep venous system, by using the duplex ultrasound.
Reasons for varicose vein diseases are still not cleared, however - the multifactor, genetics, female hormones, smoking, static conditions, standing or sitting for long periods at a time, and an inactive lifestyle all play a role in diseases of the vascular system.
The form and the appearances of the varicose vein disease can be combined with each other in most cases, hence the reason why the therapy needs to fulfil the patient’s individual requirements. It is therefore essential that the chosen doctor is a good specialist and have excellent practical experience in the diagnostics and treatment of varicose vein diseases.
Capillary Vasodilatation
Primarily the reddish-purplish thin capillary vasodilatations extend like a spider web in the skin, which can result in aesthetic problems. They can be fully removed by sclerotherapy – with the use of an injective or laser treatment.
Isolated Varicose Vein Disease
The distended, devious varicose veins with weakened wall in the skin are not only aesthetic embarrassing, but often can be accompanied by pain and inflammation. Here the main venous trunks and the connecting veins are not related to the pathological mutation. The most effective treatment is done by surgical intervention. During the course of the method named flebectomy, we can fully remove the varicose vein through small incisions with a special surgical instrument. After the intervention the skin can heal completely to its original state, without any scars.
The disease of the connecting veins and the varicose vein disease
Due to the insufficiency of the aortic valves between the superficial and deep venous system, the blood flows at increased pressure from the deep venous system to the superficial veins. This results in a thinner and weakened wall and deterioration of the vein wall. This can also damage the circulation of the skin. In most cases pigment deposits can occur. The skin gets thickened, becomes inflexible, itches, is inflamed and in serious cases even ulcers can arise. The symptoms can be ceased with surgical intervention. We break the problematic, diseased venous connection between the superficial and deep venous system. After surgery, a 2-3 cm linear scar remains, which is visible only from a close-up view.
Varicose vein disease can occur because of the insufficiency of the main aortic valves
The weakness of the superficial aortic valves found on the inner side of the lower extremity can damage the venous circulation of the lower extremity to such an extent that the varicose veins can become visible and tangible. Chances of the deep vein thrombosis has significantly increased, which can lead to the irreversible deterioration of venous circulation of the legs, which are beside the pulmonary embolism.
Varicose Vein Surgery
The common treatment method of the varicose vein disease of the main venous trunk is the Varicose Vein Surgery, during which the varicose veins are removed. A millimetre accuracy diagnosis is extremely important, because should the weak points not be ceased properly during surgery, the varicose vein disease can re-occur.
Dr. Rose Private Hospital specialties within the vascular surgical field:
- Crossectomia (saphena magna or parva) + saphena magna or parva variectomia of the lateral branch of the main trunk’s stripping
- Crossectomia (saphena magna or parva) + variectomia of the lateral branch
- Variectomia of the lateral branch
- Crossectomia (for example in the case of ascending thrombophlebitis or related reasons)
- Local Na-Heparin injection occasionally (for example in the case of varico-thrombophlebitis)
- Thrombus (blood clot) expressio (removal) under local anaesthesia for example in the case of varico-thrombophlebitis (for example ascending superficial clotting)
- In the case of sclerotization (closing the veins with the use of an injection) varicositas (in the case of varicose vein) occasionally
In the case of extended varicose vein surgeries it is suggested to spend the first night under observation in the hospital.
At Dr. Rose Private Hospital our Vascular Surgeons undertake ambulant examinations and surgical solutions. At the in-patient department of Dr. Rose Private Hospital -longer, complicated and more risky vascular surgeries can be carried out and if necessary the patient can stay on for a longer period to receive the necessary post-surgery care.
