Proctology

Our Proctologists make diagnoses and treatments in case of temporary or permanent problems at the last division of the intestine, known as rectum. Examples of these types of problems are blood in the stool, pain or strain in the rectum, problems in regular bowels.
Within diseases of the rectum the following are prominent: septic and aseptic inflammations, haemorrhoids, tumours and malignant tumours.
It is important to mention that the fibre-poor and fat-rich nourishment, permanent constipation, too much sitting, little exercise and modern lifestyle contributes to the formation of rectum diseases.
The malignant tumours are important among proctological problems, because colon cancer occurs nowadays as the second highest type of cancer found in men and third highest among women. The disease appears almost without symptoms: repeated tympanites, bleeding, modified habits of defecation (constipation, loose bowels, etc.). In the case of any suspicion it is recommended to undertake full examinations, to get early diagnosis our specialist at Dr. Rose Private Hospital recommends yearly check-ups.
The deviation occurs at the last part of the colon. The first examination can be done by tactical/touch examination. Early diagnosis is very important, which can result in a higher possibility of full recovery.

At the proctological out-patient service most of the problems and diseases can be treated and therefore smaller surgeries can be carried out (polyp removal, haemorrhoids surgery, etc.). The examinations causing pain can be carried out during anaesthesia, if requested by the patient.
Hospitalization is required in case of painful interventions (i.e. far developed haemorrhoids) and more complex surgeries (malignant tumours). The type of surgery and the state of the patient determine the days of hospitalization. Generally we can say that longer hospital stay’s is required when more complex surgeries are carried out and/or when the patient’s physical state requires it.
